This was a pitch I did recently commissioned by Random House. It was great to be asked to do a book cover for one of my favourite classics. I've shown the two roughs I did for them here, together with the revised rough and the final version. Fingers crossed it gets used!
The first rough

The second rough

The revised rough with just one figure

The final version which I made as a linocut and added the orange in photoshop. Notice the minor adjustments to the figure to make her look slimmer and the addition of ribbons to her bonnet.
This is a lovely image and I really like seeing the progression of ideas. Let us know if it gets used, I'll look out for it in the shops!
ReplyDeleteYou have captured the soul of the book.
