1. Hungry Fish
2. Unicyclist
3. Big Bunny

1. Hungry Fish. Because it's me!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Hungry Fish for me - colours very vibrant, and graduated. The clever water feel achieved by the way the gouge tool leaves its cut in the lino, exceptional fish expression, life and humour. Sharp and fresh.
ReplyDeleteHi Nick- love the prints and the blog too. For me, it's got to bethe unicyclist. My daughter has friends that are into extreme unicycling...the mind boggles!!

ReplyDeleteSorry, spelling not one of my strengths, hence the removal! I love them all, but I so want that bunny!
ReplyDeleteI like "Hungry Fish" because of the texture and humour; but I love the "Big Bunny"! It made me laugh the first time I saw it - and I laughed again today! Reminds me somehow, of Harvey the Rabbit, in the film...
ReplyDeleteI just love the grin on that chap's face, the hugeness of that rabbit, his round toes, the pattern on the man's sweater... Oh, just the whole thing really. And because there is no extra colour, you see all the detail, the pattern and the humour, with no disctractions. Fabulous! I just love it!
Hungry fish because he looks just like my much loved but rather wonky eyed pet gold fish (well he was black) called Othello who I had as a kid. Like all pet fish he was always hungry too :)
ReplyDeleteHi there! I like the big bunny the best. It is both amusing and very skillfully executed.
ReplyDeleteI have a Japanese print by Hirosada of a man carrying a HUGE white rabbit .... so of course I'd love to own your big bunny print.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautifully carved and makes me smile :-)
Celia
Hi, I couldn't make the Google thing work but I do like your site and will return. ( My friend Lindsey has a piece of your work, I'm doing lino prints and she told me about you)Hungry Fish- because I got tropical fish for Christmas and keep anthropomorphising (!?) them. I also love bear on a bike. x
ReplyDeleteHungry fish! For absolutely no technical artistic reason other than I just really like it...!
ReplyDeleteHungry Fish because it looks like something I dreamt about the other night!!!
ReplyDeleteLove Big Bunny! Working in pure b/w is something I'm really trying to improve upon at the moment, and I love the subtle and varied mark making in this!
ReplyDeleteHi Nick, I'm following your blog for several months now, but never took time to subscribe to it. Like many, Hungry Fish is my favorite but the others are great as well !
ReplyDeleteI'm also waiting for your results with Caligo inks. I just bought some safe wash relief ink cans and I'm gonna try this next days.
Thanks for sharing your work, keep goin' !
Alex
Big Bunny, because the man looks surprised, like he pulled up the rabbit from his allotment, thinking he was an enormous carrot. Maybe he has a whole row of rabbits growing and will have to pull them all out by their ears?
ReplyDeleteHmm...Hungry Fish or Big Bunny...I think I'm going to have to go with Hungry Fish. It reminds me of my 9 month old when we're feeding him. He opens his mouth really wide like that when he's really hungry. Also, the coloring and technique are very well executed.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work!
Thanks for the competition!
The hungry fish is sick. My grandpa used to be a diver back in the day and has told me many stories of the underwater world.Sine then i have always been interested in marine life.

Given me ideas... Bex, please reveal your identity and I will send a rabbit your way.
I'll have another competition when I'm nearing 500!
Congratulations you reached 200!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have Big Bunny because he's big!
Oh no, the competition is over before I saw it!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I love the unicyclist because he looks at the same time deft AND wobbly! Also........I've been using the Caligo inks for various mono, card, perspex printings (without a press) and they seem pretty good. and so easy to clean up :)
Definitely the big bunny ! Nothing like cuddling a big bunny and stroking his ears ! Memories......!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the big fluffy bunny! I really want a pet bunny now.
ReplyDeleteBig bunny, it was one of the first examples of a contemporary relief print i had seen when I first got into making them, i love the sharpness of the line.
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing it reproduced in an magazine when researching in my second year(4 years ago now) and thinking "Oh God! I follow that guy's blog!"
I do love the other two prints, they are really fun, but I always think of the bunny one when I think of your work or am scanning your blog updates
Big Bunny because it makes me think of those special bunnies bred to be on Teletubbies. They had to use giant bunnies because Teletubbies are huge in real life. They're 3 feet taller than big bird! Go look at the google images of angora rabbits for a good laugh. I love the detail on the linocut right down to the pattern on the gentleman's sweater. Right now I'm wondering what gouges or scalpels you used.
ReplyDeleteIt would have to be the big bunny, I love the texture in the piece!
ReplyDeleteI'm probably too late but for what it's worth I am waiting on you to do a'Yoda with a Soda', but until then your hungry fish print is gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteHas to be the Unicyclist because I reckon my face would look like that if I tried to do it...
ReplyDeleteI love "Unicycle" - that's just how I would feel on a unicycle - kind of potato-ish, and having fun, but with a hint of concern -
ReplyDeleteI feel immediate empathy for the poor potato!
I go for Big Bunny - it's all in the detail on those whopping feet; and if I win I'll send you one of my sumulinocuts!
