Onomatopinocchio book - linocut and letterpess |
The workshop I ran was based on the linocut and letterpress book I was showing in the exhibition, called Onomatopinocchio. This is a book exploring the interplay of image and text and draws on the characters in Carlo Collodi's book, The Adventures of Pinocchio (the original) and the noises the characters make. The idea for the workshop was to make a book or series of prints using linocut elements - separate pieces of cut lino - arranged and printed in different combinations on the page.
All the students in the workshop responded in different ways and we ended up with some really interesting, varied and beautiful images.
Above you can see how some of the prints were put together with the different elements and below you can see the finished results. Apologies for the poor image quality.
I love all the prints, but especially the horses with their sense of movement and the dog which has so much character despite being made out of simple shapes. Which is your favourite?
Beautiful work, the use of seperate plates works so well, thank you for posting.
